Bulgari Lucea Il Giardino Paradiso

Bulgari Lucea Il Giardino Paradiso

Lucea, Bulgari‘s latest line of watches for women, has been with us for just two years, and it has attained a success that perhaps surprised even Bulgari. This year, many new models were presented, with new sizes, new colours, a full diamond pavé version, and this complication. Bulgari Lucea Il Giardino Paradiso is a jewellery watch, but also a tourbillon. It is in two versions, with elaborately-decorated dials evoking luxuriant fauna and flora. Each version is a limited edition of 50 pieces.

The case is in pink or white gold, depending on the version, with 45 diamonds on the bezel. The red or blue alligator strap has a pink or white gold pin buckle. The crown is the cabochon-cut pink stone characteristic of the Lucea series, with an inset diamond. The dial has a background in mother-of-pearl, on which the bird of paradise and foliage are crafted in miniature painting and gem-setting.

Inside, the watch is powered by a self-winding movement designed and built by Bulgari, Calibre BVL 263, revealed by the sapphire caseback. This calibre was introduced in 2013. The balance runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hertz), and the movement provides a power reserve of 64 hours. Extra visibility is given to the tourbillon by the use of sapphire for the bridge.
