Lowell is an Italian brand based in Modena, founded in 1972 and making a range of clocks and watches. Their most recent range is named OLMO (Orologi Lowell Modena, but the Italian word “olmo” also means elm), designed for maximum eco-sensitivity, with cases entirely in wood, straps in recycled fabric, and movements made in natural materials. In other words, not a trace of plastic anywhere. The range comprises watches made in Ebony, Rosewood, Mahogany, Olive and Walnut, all from trees from forests with sustainable, controlled life cycle. They have automatic movements.
The green aspect of these pieces is further enhanced by their low carbon footprint. All the main components are from suppliers within 200 km from the factory in Modena. Because thermoplastics are not used, the watch can’t be guaranteed for water-resistance, and in any case the natural wood used for the cases and caseback would suffer.
The watches are priced from €275.
