Several of Rolex’s new watch versions this year (2016) are hallmarked by Rolesor, their trademark combination of stainless steel and gold in case and bracelet that provides a distinctive appearance and has a touch of austerity when compared to the all-gold versions. In other words, they’re not so expensive, reflecting the general drift of things in the luxury watch industry.
The Lady-Datejust 28 is powered by the self-winding calibre 2236, developed and built by Rolex in-house and providing 55 hours power reserve. The movement is certified by COSC and then the complete encased watch is subjected to Rolex’s own Superlative Chronometer certification, for a precision of about -2/+2 seconds deviation per day.
The watch has all the technical characteristics hallmarking Rolex Oyster timepieces, principally the 100-metre waterproofness, screw-down caseback, screw-down crown, and sapphire watchglass with Cyclops lens over the date window. A feature of current Rolex watches is the inner bezel flange branded “Rolex” rather obsessively all the way around: of course you don’t really notice this when seen from the front.
Many versions are available, with smooth or fluted bezel, with or without diamonds on bezel and hour markers, different types of hour markers, and with Jubilee or Oyster bracelets. The dial is either in mother-of-pearl or with metal sunray finish.
