Breguet inaugurated an exhibition titled “Marie-Antoinette, a Queen in Versailles” at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Tokyo. The event runs from 25 October 2016 to 25 February 2017 and it is sponsored by Breguet. On 2 November 2016 (Marie Antoinette’s birthday) and the day after, the Breguet pocket watch number 1160 – reproduction of the famous 160 “Marie Antoinette” commissioned for the queen, one of the most complicated watches ever made – was exhibited at the venue. From 4 to 6 November the watch can be seen at the Breguet boutique in Tokyo. After that it will return to the Breguet manufacture in Switzerland.
The exhibition includes two new Breguet watches dedicated to the Queen, who was one of Breguet’s most important customers. Both feature roses, the flowers that she loved and that appear in paintings of her.
You can read a fictionalized account of Breguet’s watch n° 160 on this blog.
The show is running at the Mori Arts Center Gallery, 52F Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, 6-10-1 Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo. The nearest station is Roppongi. The show is open from 10am to 8pm, except for Tuesday when it closes at 5 pm. Admission 1,800 yen. Info from tel. 03-5777-8600.
I’m sure it was a great event and a very interesting show. Breguet is a great company that produces luxury watches and it worth visiting their show.
