RLT Watches was founded in Yorkshire, U.K., by Roy L. Taylor, who worked in the watch repair and sales business for almost 20 years before starting to build his own watches and sell them online from 1998. From then on, RLT Watches has sold new and secondhand watches by many brands, as well as their own watches, which include both quartz and mechanical watches, the latter with calibres made by ETA, Mido, Vostock, Raketa, Unitas, Seagull and other manufacturers. Pieces by RLT Watches are usually three-hand models, with many pilot’s and diver’s designs, all sold at absolutely accessible prices.
For example, a piece currently available is the RLT Watch Co. Anniversary Watch, made in 2007 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the brand and sold only to members of the RLT Watches Internet forum. One piece from that 20-unit collection is now available from the website. It is a 37-mm watch with an ETA 2801-2 movement, an acrylic watchglass, and a brown leather strap. Price £149.
Another watch currently available is this RTL Watch Co. Mechanical One-Handed Watch, RLT64, £159. It has a 40 mm steel case, blued steel hand, a display caseback, and a black leather strap.
RLT Watches are always made in very small series and so are likely to become collector’s items – a rare example of collectability driven by low prices!
