The new Happy Sport watches released by Chopard for summer 2017 are women’s watches that demonstrate some of the major trends in contemporary timepieces. Quartz movements make things easy for their users, at least until the battery runs out. Previous versions of Happy Sport already had interchangeable straps, and this user-friendly characteristic is enhanced by the new tangy colours. The rubber strap makes it a trendy summer watch, though not really for the beach given its 30-metre water resistance.
Two sizes, contrasting strap colours
The watch is available in two sizes, 36 and 30 mm, in stainless steel, or a combination of steel and rose gold. The strap colours are purple, bright pink and anise green, and they are given extra fizz by the contrasting loop. The caseback is engraved with the motto “Be happy.”
The principal characteristic of the Happy Sport range consists of the mobile diamonds that slide around between the watchglass and another sheet of sapphire glass. This was an invention by co-owner and designer Caroline Scheufele.
Prices don’t seem to be available yet but the new colourful Chopard Happy Sports watches will presumably retail at about €5,000-6,000.
