The Gent Automatic by Aerowatch has a sort of distinction and refinement that I would associate with the “gentleman” concept that has been used by a number of brands recently. Even though it is a very moderate 39 mm in diameter, and so in terms of size it could be worn by both men and women, its style is definitely masculine, with minimalist hour markers, a nicely-positioned date at 6 o’clock, and a lovely brown leather strap with alligator print texture and visible stitching, pin buckle. The case is in stainless steel, water-resistant to 50 metres (resistant to rain and splashes only, no swimming), and the timepiece has a slightly domed sapphire watchglass.
Movement and caseback
The Aerowatch Gent Automatic is powered by the ETA 2824-2 movement, which runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, 4 Hertz. It is self-winding, with a power reserve of 38 hours. The caseback is solid with an engraving of the brand’s “A” logo.
Price and reference
The price of the model Les Grandes Classiques – Gent Automatic, reference A 60979 AA03, is 970 Swiss francs, about €820. It is also available with a stainless steel bracelet. It is truly a classic watch, what watches used to be back in the 1950s, simply instruments for telling the time that would become part of your life, running for ever as long as you wore it and performed the usual maintenance every few years.
