Aerowatch is a Swiss brand founded in 1910, presently making models with mechanical and quartz movements. Their latest product is a very good-looking moon phase watch that has something of the classic Breguet-type looks, with blued hands, silver-finish dial with guilloché work in the central part, and Roman numerals. This vintage look is intentional, as it is part of the 1942 collection inspired by pocket watches.
The Dubois Dépraz 11 1⁄2 9231/SW 200 movement can be viewed through the display back in sapphire crystal, with perlage-decorated bridges and an oscillating mass with Côtes de Genève decoration. On the dial, the moon phase is at 10 o’clock, and a subdial at 6 o’clock shows the date. Moon phase and date can be adjusted by means of two recessed pushers, hidden on the case side between the strap loops. Power reserve should be about 38 hours. The stainless steel case has a good degree of polish (one of the advantages of steel is its resemblance to white gold and platinum…) is 42 mm in diameter, mounted on a blue leather strap with fold-over clasp, fitted to old-style loops attached to the case. Water-resistance is rated at 50 metres. The Aerowatch Automatic Moon Phase has the reference number A 74969 AA01.Recommended retail price for this model is €1,790.
