New boutique edition presented by Hublot

h2The Big Bang Unico All Black was presented by none other than Usain Bolt, Jamaican sprint champion who broke the world indoor 100 metre record in Warsaw on 23 August 2014. At the Hublot boutique on New Bond Street, London, he chose his favourite, Blue, from the four versions available. The watch is a limited edition, 100 watches for each colour, available only from Hublot boutiques.

The Big Bang is a Hublot classic, a chronograph first presented in 2005, with many distinctive characteristics such as the six H-shaped screws securing the bezel, and the screw-down crown with overmoulded rubber. New features include the round, piston-like pushers, and a one-click strap attachment system that enables the user to change straps as desired from a large range of alternatives. The watch is supplied with the sandwich-type strap with black alligator above and ribbed rubber below.

Hands, numerals and indices have the familiar stencil-type appearance, because they are hollowed and filled with black SuperLuminova. The dial has a minutes counter at 3 o’clock, small seconds at 9 o’clock, and a date window at 3 o’clock, with the date ring visible below the hour numerals. Parts of the in-house column wheel chronograph movement, UNICO HUB 1242, can be seen through the skeletonized dial. The Hublot logo is on the sapphire watchglass. Dial markings are in red, blue, orange or green.

The case is large at 45.5 mm, with a bezel in black ceramic. The watch has a sapphire crystal caseback, displaying the black PVD-coated oscillating weight. Its water resistance is rated at 100 metres. Power reserve is 72 hours.

The Hublot boutique in London is on 31 New Bond Street. For other Hublot boutiques, see www.hublot.com/en/boutiques
