Ferrari is one of the most powerful brands in the world, and Hublot have been enjoying their partnership with the racing-car marque since 2011. At Baselworld they presented four new Big Bang Ferrari watches, two with a case blending carbon and metal, in King Gold and titanium versions, and two with gaudier striped straps and a radiator-type mesh on the dial. All four pieces have many references to Ferrari, with the prancing horse emblem in the form of an appliqué at 9 o’clock, the Ferrari logo on a pusher, the Ferrari colours red and yellow on the date window and chronograph counter, and the oscillating weight that forms a visual reference to Ferrari wheels. All the watches are powered by the HUB 1241 Unico movement, an automatic flyback chronograph movement, and they differ from the brand’s own Big Bang chronograph in that there is no small seconds dial: it’s been replaced by the horse. So on the dial side, the subdial at 3 o’clock is for 60 chronograph minutes, and at about 6 o’clock you can see the column wheel which is one of the characteristic Big Bang features as it is on the dial side and not, as is more usual, visible on the caseback side. Visibility of the movement from the dial side is better in the first two carbon composite watches, less in the two “Speciale” versions where the grille complicates the scene. Here are the various versions and prices.
