Montecristo Chrono Auto by Italian brand Locman is an automatic chronograph developed by S.I.O., Scuola Italiana di Orologeria (Italian watchmaking school), founded in Milan by Locman as a centre for research and certification. For the movement, S.I.O. worked with DePa Swiss Movements to create a robust and reliable calibre, SIO/DPch 88, visible through the transparent caseback. The oscillating weight has a golden finish and bears the Locman Italy logo. The movement provides a power reserve of about 50 hours.
Striking design
The watch is immediately eye-catching for its bright orange silicone strap and the unusual triple-bar lug design. The dial has a black enamel sunray finish, with chronograph minutes subdial at 3 o’clock, small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock, no date window. The 44mm case is in AIDI 316 stainless steel, water-resistant to 100 metres, with titanium elements, and even though large and relatively thick, the curve of its lugs ensure that it sits comfortably on the wrist.
