This is a limited-edition watch dedicated to Frank Sinatra, part of the Raymond Weil Maestro collection. The watch is a classic three-hand automatic, with hands, indices and the edge of the date window highlighted in blue, against a silver dial. The very classical design, with the 39.5 mm steel case just 9 mm thick, makes this an attractive dress watch. The only reference to Frank Sinatra on the dial side is the 12 o’clock index in Roman numerals, a reference to Frank’s birthday, 12 December, which also reappears in the size of the limited edition, 1,212. The caseback with sapphire window makes more direct reference to the singer. The watch has a brown leather strap with steel buckle. Water resistance is 50 metres.
Movement
TThe watch is powered by a self-winding movement, with 26 jewels and 38 hours power reserve. It is visible through the sapphire caseback, which is decorated by an outline drawing of Sinatra’s hat, and his name. The calibre is marked RW 4200; it is probably the Sellita SW200, running at 28,800 vph (4 Hertz).
Reference and price
The Raymond Weil Maestro Frank Sinatra, reference 2837-STC-SINAT, costs 1,400 Swiss francs, about €1,300. Available from June 2015.
