This is a limited edition of Zenith’s El Primero chronograph, with an open dial revealing parts of the movement. Colours have been given a minimalist treatment, with everything in shades of grey except for the touches of red on the chronograph hands. The sense of depth on the dial is enhanced by the moulded letters used for the Zenith and El Primero logotypes. At top left, the large circular well provides a view of the tourbillon, with balance running at 36,000 vibrations per hour, and the two subdials below are for chronograph minutes and hours. The caseback has a sapphire window with a view of the Zenith oscillating weight, and of the Zenith 4035 movement, providing 50 hours power reserve.
It has a 44 mm case, water-resistant to 50 metres, with a sporty pierced rubber strap. The piece shown is marked “Proto”, as this watch will be launched later in 2016 as a limited edition of 100 pieces. Price €49,700.
