The two new Divas’ Dream watches by Bulgari combine very feminine lines and gemsetting, with a mechanical movement and an interesting complication. Minutes are shown by a retrograde hand which flicks back to zero once it has completed its one-hour arc. Hours are shown by a number in a window at the base of the dial.
The case is 37 mm in diameter, with two fan-shaped lugs that add a lot to the watch’s character. They hold a satin strap with gold pin buckle. On the bezel and lugs there are 79 diamonds, for a total weight of about 2.1 carats. There are two versions of the watch, Divas’ Dream Heart of Ruby (reference 102545), with a ruby stone dial and pink gold case, and Divas’ Dream Lapis Lazuli (reference 102544) with white gold case.
In this watch, Bulgari keeps things simple and lets the materials do the talking. It is a complete contrast with most of the other Divas’ Dream watches, which are jewel-encrusted compositions based on a circular sequence of the fan-shaped motifs that is the range’s hallmark. The dial of these two watches is uncluttered, with the semi-precious stone forming the backdrop for the diamond hour markers and the single sword-shaped hand. The crown has an attractive design and features Bulgari’s characteristic cabochon sapphire. The watch is powered by a mechanical self-winding movement, BVL Calibre 262, which provides a 42–hour power reserve. The case has the standard 30-metre water resistance. The pink gold and ruby stone dial version, reference 102545, costs €31,300; the lapis lazuli version, reference 102544, presumably about the same.
