The Lunova Tag Datum by Mühle-Glashütte gives you an extra choice if you’re looking for a watch smart enough for business use but has sports-level toughness, namely a 100-metre water resistance. It is superficially similar to the Lunova Datum, but in addition to the indication of the day of the week, it also differs in that it has a titanium case, making it lighter and giving the metal a slightly different sheen when compared with steel. The dial layout has a lot in common with pilot’s watches, with SuperLuminova on hands and hour markers and numerals.
Case and dial
The Lunova Tag Datum has a case in polished and brushed titanium, 42.3 mm in diameter and 10.7 mm thick, with a crocodile leather strap and titanium pin buckle. The black dial has a graded finish which adds interest, contrasting well with the applied hour indices. The screw-down crown helps give the watch its 100-metre water resistance. The day indication at 3 o’clock is available in German or English.
Movement
The sapphire glass caseback window reveals the amount of extra work performed by Mühle-Glashütte on the Sellita SW 220-1 movement. It has a Mühle-Glashütte oscillating weight, with an attractive solarized finish that catches the light in a spiral pattern. Other features include blued screws and the Mühle-Glashütte woodpecker regulation on the balance. Power reserve is the standard 38-hours for this classic calibre.
