The new Fendi IShine is a jewellery watch with an interesting basic concept: rotating the crown changes the stones displayed between the hour markers on the dial. There are three different sets of stones: white topaz, pink and red gradient topaz, and black spinels, set around a central dial section in faceted mother-of-pearl. The crown itself is decorated with a prong-set precious stone. The video below shows the most elaborate version of the IShine with its beautiful gem-set case and mother-of-pearl dial centre.
Fendi is a Rome-based fashion brand famous for its fur, but it has been making watches since 1988.
The actual movement of the watch is a Swiss-made quartz calibre. This timepiece is an example of one of the trends that can be seen in the luxury sector: personalization, and in this case, being able to change the appearance of a watch by selecting the colour of the jewels. Another example of the move towards personalization is for the user being able to change the strap easily and quickly.
Fendi were present at Baselworld 2017 and showcased a number of new products, but IShine is their major launch of the year. Several versions are available, one with a black lacquered dial and a stainless steel bracelet with gold plating on the bezel, caseband, crown and central bracelet links, and one in stainless steel with white lacquered dial and pink bracelet.
