The Nighthawk is a pilot’s watch in the collection by Italian brand Perseo. It has many of the features traditionally associated with pilot’s watches, such as the reference triangle with two dots at 12 o’clock, the large conical crown, the bold numerals and minute markings, and the broad sword hands. The dial incorporates a date window quite neatly, by omitting the numerals 3 and 9 and placing the date window so that it continues the 3 o’clock hour marker.
In addition to the classic black dial, it is also available in the blue shade that has become popular for many leading brands such as IWC.
The stainless steel case has a water resistance of 5 atm, 50 metres. The watch has an automatic movement, the Sellita SW 400, visible through the sapphire window on the caseback. The case is 44 mm in diameter. The strap is handmade from leather in Italy.
The Nghthawk is reference 6781. It can be purchased from jewellers in Italy at €698, the brand don’t have an e-store.
Perseo say that they have been working “depuis 1790” which would make them much older than Panerai (1860) and Bulgari (1884). The brand say that they became famous for having supplied watches to the Italian railways company Ferrovie dello Stato, from 1927 on.
