At Baselworld 2015, Richard Mille presented just two watches, both for women, the Tourbillon Fleur and the RM 51-02 Tourbillon Diamond Twister, saying that more new pieces would be presented later in the year, in order to keep the right sort of attention on the watches. The RM 055 Bubba Watson Boutique Edition is one of these additional watches, a limited edition of 50 pieces (the number is engraved on the caseback), available only at Richard Mille boutiques.

As for many Richard Mille watches, the principal characteristic is durability, capable of withstanding accelerations of over 500 G. Its movement, the skeletonized calibre RMUL2, was originally designed in cooperation with professional golfer Bubba Watson. It is manually-wound, with 55 hours power reserve provided by two mainspring barrels. Caseband and caseback are made in titanium, given a matt grey finish by shot-blasting, with extra protection offered by a white rubber surround that absorbs vibration and shock; the bezel is in titanium carbide, a very hard titanium alloy capable of providing a hardness of 1450 Vickers. The case is held together by the characteristic spline screws in titanium.

The movement is very attractive, with a series of curving lines that join the various pivots on the upper flanges in aluminium. The same sort of geometry can be seen through the sapphire caseback. The dimensions of the watch are 49.9 x 42.7 x 13.05 mm.

The brand says that the price of the RM 055 Bubba Watson Boutique Edition is provided at boutiques on request, reportedly about Swiss francs 105,500.
