The new Teutonia Sport I by Mühle-Glashütte is the sports version of the Teutonia family, and so it joins the vast sector of automotive-inspired watchs. The touches of red on dial and strap provide an immediate identification with motor sports, reinforced by the technical-looking strap texture and the nice red piston-ring groove on the pushers.
Automotive image
The tachymeter on the inner bezel flange is a classic feature of automotive chronographs, converting the time taken for a 1,000-metre distance into speed. More unusual, and perhaps more practical, is the bi-directional rotating bezel that enables other approximate chronograph readings to be taken with the minute hand. The dial layout reflects the origin of the movement, Sellita SW500, with chronograph minutes at the top, chronograph hours at the bottom, and continuous seconds on the left. Hands and hour indices have SuperLuminova areas for nocturnal legibility.
Case and strap
The case is large and robust, 42.6 mm in diameter and 15.5 mm thick, in stainless steel with brushed/polished finish. The sapphire crystal has an excellent double anti-glare finish, enhancing legibility. The screw-in crown helps give the watch its excellent water resistance of 10 bar. The strap is in leather with a red rubber lining, and is waterproof.
Movement
The movement is the self-winding MU 9413, automatic, which is extensively modified with respect to the Sellita SW500. It has a Mühle-Glashütte rotor, woodpecker neck regulation, and Glashütte three-quarter plate. The movement provides stop-second time-setting and fast date correction. Power reserve is 48 hours.
