Archimede has presented a new dress watch, Klassik 36 BIC. Dress watches are usually a male accessory; the Klassik 36 BIC is 36 mm in diameter and so is ideal for women, or for men with smaller wrists, though in actual fact it looks fine on just about anyone, and 36 mm was the classic men’s watch size in the 1960s and ’70s.
Case and dial
The case is made in-house by Ickler, part of the group to which Archimede belongs. There are three case versions, steel with contrasting brushed and polished areas, steel with gold-plated details, and entirely gold PVD-coated. Dials are available in silver-tone and black. Numerals are applied and gold-plated, and hands are also gold-plated. The dial corresponds to the classic dress watch layout, with no date window.
Citizen movement
The movement is made by Citizen, and so, though it is not specified, it is presumably the Miyota 9015, visible through the display caseback. This runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hertz), is self-winding with stop-seconds function for accurate time-setting, and provides a power reserve of about 42 hours. Japanese-made movements are of a level of quality comparable to the Swiss ETA movements on which they are based.
Personalization possibilities
The varying case and strap options provide a fair degree of choice for personalizing the watch. You can also upgrade the strap with a deployant clasp, and order a personal engraving on the outer ring of the caseback. Prices start at €660 (inclusive of VAT), or €554.62 if you are eligible for purchasing without VAT. The watch can be purchased direct from Archimede at their website and online boutique.
