The second edition of Watches Of Italy, held on 25 and 26 September 2021 in Tortona, can be considered a notable success and a welcome step towards normality after two difficult years. The event was underscored by a positive atmosphere, reinforced by the notable quality of the watches on show, and facilitated by the seamless organization. About 3,000 visitors were able to meet the brands directly, examine their new watches, and purchase them directly at the show. In this way, the event succeeded in its mission of promoting Italian watchmaking and informing the public of just how much time, design skill, and artisanal expertise is invested in these small but infinitely fascinating objects. Refreshments were on hand in the form of gourmet street food stands right outside the venue, and tastings of quality local wines..
Fabrizio Dellachà, creator and coordinator of the Watches Of Italy collective, said, “Ten exhibitors more than last year, and +50% in number of visitors, are statistics that show that we are going in the right direction. Every edition of Watches Of Italy provides the ideal setting in which to launch world premieres that demonstrate the creativity and inborn talent of Italian designers. For next year, we are considering extending the show to include vintage clocks and watches, with antiques stalls around the venue”.
Silvia Bonfanti, communications director and press officer for Watches Of Italy, said, “We would also like to organize debates featuring important personalities in the sector, in order to review the situation in Italy, examine market trends and explore the future possibilities in the watchmaking sector”.
Federico Chiodi, Mayor of Tortona, said, “This, the second edition of Watches Of Italy, has proved to be a growing success, a prestigious event for our city (…) that brings important benefits to the local community, in particular as regards the hospitality sector. Above all, it gave the many enthusiasts visiting the show the chance to discover our city. In fact we are already working on the next edition, with the objective of making Watches Of Italy a regular occasion for the coming years”.
