The Rivanera dress watch by echo/neutra confirms my conviction that echo/neutra is the most exciting Italian affordable mechanical watch brand, ever since the company’s foundation in 2018 by Nicola Callegaro and Cristiano Quaglia.
First of all, the Rivanera is a courageous watch. It’s not a clone. It’s not a diver or desk diver. It’s not a Rolex look-alike. It’s a men’s dress watch. Small and stylish, it is a statement of style and refinement. Like all Echo/Neutra watches, its design is beautiful and faultless. This is rare. Making an object as small as a watch look good is no mean feat.
The echo/neutra Rivanera is interesting because of the way the dial is created. It is micro-faceted and so it creates tiny reflections as it catches the light, creating an impression of small sparks or snowflakes. So it looks slightly different every time you look at it.
The deisgn of the echo/neutra Rivanera is beautifully balanced, as one would expect from a brand with the name echo/neutra. Their approach suggests echoes of the Austrian-American designer Richard Neutra (1892-1970) who spent most of his career in southern California, building many houses there as well as in Switzerland, Germany and France. His design approach was for homes “ready for anything,” flexible and suitable for any type of life.
This is a good description of echo/neutra watches. Even a specialist piece such as the Rivanera is practical and very different, capable of becoming a talking-point a part of of any look and any occasion.

Rivanera is powered by a Swiss ETA 7001 movement, frequency 21,600 vibrations per hour, diameter 23.8 mm, thickness just 2.5 mm. This enables the final watch to achieve a thickness of just 5.9 mm including the watch glass. The watch can be ordered now, with delivery from 12 May 2025.
