The Cosmic Green by H. Moser is another expression of the brand’s stance with respect to the “Swiss Made” concept, and the fact that legislation on use of this label doesn’t offer much of a guarantee to customers buying a watch. Neither does it help people working in the Swiss watch industry. I don’t think that it’s a secret that Rolex (to mention just one brand) has already trained people in China to assemble their watches, and is currently engaged in training Chinese watchmakers. There’s nothing wrong with that, but is it fair to Chinese customers to label a watch that has been assembled – and at some time in the near future, will actually had its movement built – in China as “Swiss Made”?
Case in white or pink gold
Apart from the politics, the total absence of any dial wording or indications makes it look very different. The green fumé dial is distinctive. The case is 40.8 mm in diameter and 10.9 mm thick, and it has a display caseback revealing the movement. The watch is made in two versions, white gold and pink gold, each a limited edition of 20.
HMC 343 movement
The HMC 343 movement is made in-house by H. Moser, with double barrels providing a 7-day power reserve. A power reserve indicator is visible through the sapphire caseback. The calibre runs at 18,000 vibrations per hour, 2.5 Hertz.
Alligator leather strap
According to the literature, the strap is a camouflage-style alligator leather strap, but the versions that I saw at SIHH in January 2017 had normal grey alligator straps.
